Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

On February 28th more than 2,000 people will take turns plunging into the Columbia River at NE Portland's Broughton Beach on Marine Drive. The state-wide annual Oregon Law Enforcement Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Oregon presented by Fred Meyer will raise more than half a million dollars for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Polar Plunge Portland will include a 5K Polar Plunge Fun Run/Walk. Runners must raise a minimum of $25 to run or $50 to run and Plunge. This event will feature a Winter Beach Party with live music, food, and activities for plungers and their guests to participate in. Plungers can participate as individuals or recruit a group of friends, family or co-workers to Plunge into the water as a team. Click here to sign up and find out more about this event.

Chocolate Fest

If you take chocolate (lots and lots of chocolate), tasty wine, delicious food, engaging entertainment and educational presentations and mix them all together, you get ChocolateFest. As a fundraiser for the World Forestry Center (because chocolate DOES come from a tree!), this 10th ChocolateFest will delight visitors with a wide range of scrumptious offerings from chocolate-covered bacon, to chocolate aged in used whiskey barrels, to ginger-infused liquid caramel truffles tossed in thai chili. Don't miss ChocolateFest at the Oregon Convention Center Friday, January 23, 4-9pm (age 21 and older only), Saturday, January 24, 11am-6pm and Sunday, January 25, 11am-5pm.
