Is a woman in a 1928 film who appears to have a cell phone glued to her ear in fact a time traveler? That's what some conspiracy theorists think is going on in this eerie scene (video below) from Charlie Chaplin's 1928 film.
Ok, this is totally true. You don't need any cell towers or networks. By the time we have figured out how to time travel we will have invented an adapter that will allow us to access the hard wire phone system. The signal will also be able to pierce the time portal to phone home.
And that's the truth....Ernestine
If she is holding anything at all, it's most likely an electronic hear aid, if she is holding anything at all. Personally, I don't see a phone there at all, just her hair and her hand up by her face.
OK Mitch i think if they have the ablity to travel back in time. Then they could build a tower and have there own network. It could be the goverment or a privite group of people changing things in time who knows.
You kept asking the question why isn't it possible to have communications with a cell phone if you traveled back in time. Well here's why...How can you talk on a device that HASN'T BEEN INVENTED? It no longer can exist in a world where it has not been invented. No cell towers or satellites. So how can you have a conversation? You would be talking to the wind...For all the good it would do you. This was, by the way, explained to me by my husband, who then gave me a headache because I had to think about it. Love you Mitch, you're just a riot.
Looked at the video for a while and did a quick google search. It looks like the lady is probably using a hearing aid from the 1920's and she's holding the ear piece up to her ear. She's probably talking to adjust the volume. When she turn and looks behind her and then smiles at the camera it's probably because she was being yelled at to get out of the shot. :)
