Hello! I'm Jarooca - one of the 41 dogs who came to OHS from a Breeder, and I am now in search of a new loving home. I am very shy at first meeting, but once I get to know you, I am quite the lover. I have not yet been potty trained or leash trained, nor have I ever worn a collar; but with positive reinforcement and good treats, I will hopefully learn the ropes. I am not used to a normal dog life, so I should stay on a harness/leash when outdoors, as I might startle easily in new situations. Ideally, I can go to a calm and quiet home where I can take the time I need to adjust. Young children may overwhelm me, so a home with dog-savvy children will be best for me.
Walnut is such a lovable cutie pie who is readily awaiting to find his new home. This wiggley little guy is full of fun and is super duper loving. Walnut's affectionate personality shines at first meeting when he greets you with a kiss. He is still very young and comes with a lot of responsibility for training and socializing.

Scarlet is on the look out for her forever home. She is a very sweet and affectionate dog that has won the hearts of all of us here at OHS. Her ideal home would be one where she can get plenty of exercise, love, and positive training. Scarlet is a very smart dog and would do best with a guardian that will incorporate training in her day to day activities. As sweet and affectionate as Scarlet is, she is rather selective about her living conditions. She is quite the princess and does not like to share her royalty with others. For this reason she needs to be an only pet, and would do best with an adult only home. Scarlet is also hoping to go home with someone that has previous breed experience. As we said before Scarlet needs an abundance of both mental and physical stimulation. If you put in the right time and effort, and stand by Scarlet, not only will she return your efforts ten fold, but it is sure to build a strong, positive, and loving bond between the two of you for life. Frida is a sweet girl in need of an active and breed-knowledgeable home. Frida is true to both breeds. She loves to sniff her way around a walk and is also very quick and smart. Also, Frida needs a large, fenced in back yard to run and play in. Frida LOVES training games and would love to be with a person with the time to devote to her. Therefore, an adult only home or older, calm dog experienced kids are a better fit for her than a home with small children. Finally, Frida has to be the only pet (dog or cat) in the home but this is OK as she'll bring a smile to your face everytime you spend time with her as she's just so much FUN. Leo is an active, happy guy who LOVES tennis balls. He will be very happy if he can just hold a tennis ball in his mouth. Leo enjoys chasing cats and will need a cat-free home. Leo would love to spend the day playing fetch with his human companions and being involved in everything that is going on around him. Because of Leo's energy level he will need to be in a home with older children. Leo is a fence jumper and must be supervised when outside. Roscoe is a loving and devoted dog that is ideal for a household looking for a companion pet. He has a love for being with his human at all times, and is very friendly. Roscoe can be a little sensitive to handling and will require gentle but consistent training. Due to this reason we suggest he go to an adult home. He loves receiving treats and enjoys working for positive reinforcement. Because this breed has a penchant for following scent, he should be kept either in a fenced yard or on a leash when being walked. Roscoe will need to go to a cat free home because he loves to chase cats. Roscoe can also be picky about his canine companions as well, please bring in any resident canine to meet prior to adopting.

Meet Pooka, a happy and excitable love bug with energy to spare. Pooka has a history of playing well with other dogs though she'll need to meet all resident canine friends before going home. Say hello to Big Mac, an amazingly smart guy with a zest for life and the energy to enjoy it with! He was transferred to us from Lewis County Animal Shelter through our Second Chance Program so that we could find him a new home. Big Mac can be vocal about what he wants, so he would benefit from some additional training in his new home. Big Mac would be a great jogging or hiking partner and would benefit from daily exercise. He likes all the attention he can get and, in fact, when you leave he can tend to be vocal--so apartment living is not for him. He is very playful and, due to his size, he would do best in a home with older respectful children.
Martha is a sweet little girl who is looking for a warm lap to be on. She is a little on the independent side and will need someone who can understand that. She also prefers to have all the attention to herself and doesn't tend to share well with other animals. Martha came to us from Merced Co. Animal Control in California through our Second Chance Program to find her new home in the Pacific NW. In the right home she will make a wonderful walking companion and lap dog! Tobis loyalty and affinity for being close to people makes him an amiable companion dog. Tobi is a graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with a saucy expression, compact little body, and a Chihuahua personality. This little guy is too tiny to live in a home with young boisterous children, because their rough handling/play could injure Tobi without meaning to. On the other hand, he may be perfect for a pet owner who loves to pamper, take for walks, and love this little guy to pieces.
Bear is a wonderful older gentleman who's looking for his forever home. He is very sweet and knows his basic commands--and he loves to have his belly rubbed. Bear has spent a lot of his life outdoors but would love to find a home where he can be inside with his new family. He would benefit from daily walks to help keep him slim and healthy. Bear can be a little picky about who his friends are and would like to meet any dogs in your residence before adoption. Waffle seems oblivious of his small size and he is always eager for an adventure. He was transferred to us from the Merced County Animal Control through our Second Chance Program so we could find him a new home. This little dog is energetic and very clever. He will make someone a fantastic lap dog if given the time to adjust to his new family and surroundings. Waffle is affectionate with her caregivers, but he does not do well with over-handling. If a lap dog or travel companion is what you are looking for, then Waffle is the right match for you.
Bubba is a very happy, loving little guy who is looking for a home without small children. He is not used to toddlers or young children, so any children in his new home must be older. He likes to go for walks and for rides in the car, loves to play with toys and likes other dogs. He seems to be smart as he knows many commands. Bubba is used to being an inside dog who runs loose inside the home and is allowed on the furniture.
Scarlet is a very affectionate dog who loves nothing more than hanging out with people. She is looking for an owner who will give her plenty of love, exercise, and continued training. Come play with Brooks, he LOVES attention. He has been through a few homes over the last couple of months and is in need of a loving, breed experience home where he can lay his head for life. He has a good history with female dogs and he will need a cat free home. Brooks will need plenty of daily exercise to keep him happy and healthy. He tends to get overwhelmed at the dog park; therefore his new owners will need to exercise him in other ways. Brooks would love an active home where he can get consistent training and exercise. If you are an athletic person with some dog training experience Tulip needs you. She is a sweet girl who will gladly accompany you on all of your adventures. This smart dog would be happiest and healthiest with someone able to give her daily exercise and polish her training. Julie is a wonderfully sweet senior girl and she really needs to find her new family. Julie is a ten-year old German Shepherd and she is incredibly lovable. Meet Sage!  She is a kind, gentle sweet lady!  She is a labrador mix and she weighs about 75 pounds.  She lived with a caring family for her entire 10 years on this planet, but because of economic difficulties, the family had to move to temporary housing that did not allow pets.  They were of course heartbroken, and sweet Sage is waiting for someone JUST LIKE YOU to come and rescue her and to give her a loving home!  Sage is in great shape for her age and will only require moderate exercise.  She is housebroken and is a sweetheart around kids and other dogs, and is said to even be great with cats! She seems to love everybody and everything...she just needs a home. Come down to the shelter and meet Sage; one look in her beautiful eyes and you are sure to fall in love!!
